HERNANDEZ NAVIA, SONIA ELIZABETH

I am a biologist and PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in innate immunity at the Faculty of Higher Studies Iztacala. My research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of chronic inflammation, particularly in diseases such as colorectal cancer and diabetes mellitus. I explore immune receptor signaling pathways, with an interest in the intersection between immunology, metabolism, and disease progression.

Beyond research, I am passionate about scientific communication, mentoring undergraduate students, and building collaborative bridges across disciplines. I have authored publications in peer-reviewed journals and participated in national and international conferences as a speaker, moderator, and evaluator. I believe that science thrives through open dialogue and shared curiosity—so I’m always open to new ideas, questions, and potential collaborations.
