I am a Mexican genomics and metagenomics Researcher, currently studying the viral communities in wastewater for improving based pathogen surveillance in Mexico. In the past, I carried out research on the human viral and bacterial metagenome in patients with pathologies such as the proliferative verrucous leukoplakia, oral squamous cell carcinoma and Crohn's disease, and also from aquatic animals. I was also part of the Mexican Consortium for Genomic Surveillance (CoViGen-Mex) and worked on SARS-CoV-2 variant discovery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
