Dr. Carlos Alberto López Rosas holds a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Neuroethology and is recognized as a Candidate for National Researcher in Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII). He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Ecología, A.C. (INECOL), where his research focuses on the synthesis and toxicological evaluation of chiral neonicotinoids incorporating enantiopure amino acids. He also participates in undergraduate and graduate teaching at the Universidad Veracruzana.
His research encompasses neuroethology, chronobiology, pharmacology, toxicology, and the biological evaluation of natural and synthetic compounds. He has experience with experimental models, including zebrafish (Danio rerio), rats (Rattus norvegicus), mice (Mus musculus), and Artemia salina, investigating neurophysiological mechanisms, pharmacological effects, and toxicological responses.
His research in phytochemistry focuses on the extraction and characterization of secondary metabolites from medicinal plants, particularly those exhibiting anticonvulsant and antimicrobial activities. His work also incorporates microbiological approaches to investigate the biological activity of natural and synthetic compounds. His scientific interests further include bioactive peptides and the relationship between molecular structure, stereochemistry, and biological activity.
In addition to his research activities, Dr. López Rosas contributes to undergraduate and graduate education, student training, interdisciplinary research collaborations, and science outreach. He has authored publications in indexed scientific journals and participated in research projects spanning neuroscience, pharmacology, toxicology, natural products, and biomedical sciences.
