Head of the National Space Weather Laboratory in Mexico (LANCE) and founder of the Mexican Space Weather Service (SCIESMEX).
He studied physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He completed a Ph.D. in space physics at Imperial College, University of London, and a postdoctoral stay at the NASA-Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He rejoined the Institute of Geophysics at UNAM as a researcher in 1997.
His main lines of research are the study of shock waves in the solar wind, MHD numerical simulations, interplanetary scintillation, and space weather.
