I was born on July 30, 1986, in the small town of Mallasamudram, Tamil Nadu, India, into a traditional handloom-weaver family. Growing up in this environment instilled in me the values of perseverance, discipline, and craftsmanship, which later shaped my scientific mindset. Guided by curiosity and determination, I pursued higher studies in physics, earning my B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. I gradually built a research career dedicated to unraveling the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease. Since 2010, my research has focused on the molecular basis of Alzheimer’s disease, particularly the oligomerization of amyloid-β, protein-membrane interactions, and their roles in neurotoxicity. I have published approximately 20 papers in leading international journals and have over eight years of postdoctoral research experience across five countries: South Korea, Poland (as a Marie Curie fellow), Chile, Mexico (at UNAM, a top 100 world-ranked university), and India (at IIT Madras, a top 200 world-ranked university). A major highlight of my work is the rational design of M30, a novel small-molecule inhibitor that blocks amyloid toxicity and restores memory in Alzheimer’s disease models—an exciting candidate for future therapeutics. In addition to my research, I actively engage in science communication, writing in Tamil to bring awareness of neuroscience and brain health to the public.
