Karina Corona Cervantes currenly holds the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Obesity Research Institute of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. She earned her B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit in 2016. Subsequently, she achieved her master's and doctoral degrees in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the "Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del IPN" in 2018 and 2022, respectively. Her ongoing research focuses on the intricate characterization of bacterial communities within both human milk and the intestinal microbiota of infants within the Mexican population. She is actively engaged in projects that explore the dynamic interplay between the immune system and microbiota, particularly within the context of chronic-degenerative diseases. Karina maintains collaborative partnerships contributing significantly to the study of the etiological role played by the intestinal microbiota in a range of neuropsychiatric conditions including Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia induced by maternal immune activation.
