PEREZ BERUMEN, CATALINA MARIA

I obtained my BSc in Organic Chemistry at the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila in 1996; afterward, I joined the Centro de Investigación en Química Aplicada (CIQA) and gained an M.Sc. in Polymer Science in 1999. Then, I joined the Alessandro Gandini's team at the former EFPG (now PAGORA) of the Grenoble INP in France, where I got my Ph.D. in 2003. In 2004, I joined the Department of Organic Chemistry of the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila, starting the research field "Green Chemistry in Organic Synthesis." In Mexico, our team was a pioneer in microwave-assisted synthesis and the use of deep-eutectic solvents for organic and macromolecular synthesis. Currently, my work is focused on the synthesis of flavonoids (chalcones and flavanones), as well as on the NCM (specifically CNC) obtained from industrial residues.
