Oscar Alfredo Jaramillo Salgado is an Electrical Mechanical Engineer specializing in the Electrical-Electronic field, holding a Master's Degree in Solar Energy with a focus on the Photothermal area and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Each of his three degrees was earned with Magna Cum Laude at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). During his undergraduate studies, he was awarded 2nd place for Student Excellence "Ing. Joaquín Carrión Solana" by the AMIME. He achieved the highest grade point average in his master's program. In his doctoral studies, he received the Alfonso Caso Medal from the University Merit Commission of UNAM. Currently, he is a Tenured Researcher "C" at UNAM, holding the highest PRIDE "D" stimulus level. He is also a member of the National System of Researchers (SNII) at the highest recognition level, Level III. He has authored 62 national and 75 international publications primarily related to solar and wind energy, accumulating over 3,000 citations. His collaborations include Annex XI on Wind Turbines and Task 33/IV of SolarPACES (Solar Power and Chemical Energy Systems) by the International Energy Agency. In 2010, he contributed to the curriculum design and the creation of several course descriptions for the Bachelor's Degree in Renewable Energy Engineering at the IER. He serves as professor and tutor in UNAM’s Postgraduate Engineering Program. He supervised 1 bachelor's thesis, 22 master's theses, and 7 doctoral theses, and currently supervises 1 master's thesis and 3 doctoral theses. In 2018, he established the Wind Energy Group and its laboratory. He holds 7 patents granted by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) and has 1 patent application pending. Between 2001 and 2004, he was a researcher at the Institute of Electrical Research, now known as the National Institute of Electricity and Clean Energy. Since 2004, he has worked at UNAM’s Institute of Renewable Energies, formerly the Center for Research in Energy. His main research areas include concentrating solar energy, urban wind energy systems, thermodynamics applied to entropy and exergy analysis of renewable energy systems, and the integration of renewable energy sources into conventional systems.
