DE LEON GONZALEZ, FERNANDO

Fernando de León González holds a B.Sc. in Agronomy (1976, Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico), an M.Sc. in Botany (1979, Colegio de Postgraduados, Mexico), and a Ph.D. in Agronomic Engineering (1991, Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon, France). Since 1979 he has been a professor at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Unidad Xochimilco). He has been a member of the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNII) since 1994. He is the author or co-author of 46 peer-reviewed articles and has supervised theses at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels in agricultural and social sciences at UAM and other national institutions. He has presented at more than 100 academic events throughout his career. In 2023 he retired as Full Professor (Titular C) and was recognized by the SNII as National Researcher Level 1 for the period 2023–2038. In 2025 he launched a research line on gender violence in Mexico from a state and municipal perspective. He is a board member of Estudios Rurales y Asesoría Campesina A.C. and serves as a peer reviewer for national and international journals.
